Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is issued in accordance with the Federal Decree by Law No. (45) of 2021 Concerning the Protection of Personal Data (UAE PDPL) and governs the collection, processing, storage, and transfer of personal data by Player Projection.

1. Important Information

Player Projection ("we", "us", "our") is a basketball analytics platform operated by Player Projection, based in the United Arab Emirates.

2. The Data We Collect

We collect and process personal data across the following categories. Account data includes your username, email address, and subscription status; passwords are encrypted and are not stored in plain text. Technical data collected automatically includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system, pages visited, features accessed, and session timestamps and interaction logs. Usage data includes the platform features you use and search queries performed within the platform. Payment data includes your billing name, email address, and billing address collected at the point of transaction; payment processing is handled by Stripe (www.stripe.com) and we do not have access to your full credit card details. Athletic and performance data displayed on our platform consists exclusively of basketball player statistics and performance metrics sourced from publicly available competition data such as FIBA; all such data is collected through automated means from public sources and no athletic or performance data is uploaded by users.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your personal data only on lawful bases as defined under the UAE PDPL. Account creation and management, provision of platform services, and payment processing are carried out on the basis of contractual necessity under Article 4.9. Improving platform functionality and security and fraud prevention are carried out on the basis of legitimate interest under Article 4.1. Service-related communications are sent on the basis of contractual necessity or consent as applicable, while promotional communications are sent only on the basis of explicit consent under Article 6. Processing required to fulfil legal obligations is carried out under Article 4.10. We will not process your personal data for any purpose incompatible with those stated above.

4. Data Sharing

We share personal data with third-party service providers solely to the extent necessary for the operation of the platform. Our infrastructure is hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Services) and data may be processed on AWS servers located outside the UAE, subject to the safeguards described in Section 6. Payment processing is handled by Stripe under its own Privacy Policy available at www.stripe.com/privacy, and we share with Stripe only the billing information necessary to process your payment. We may also disclose your personal data if required by a competent UAE judicial or regulatory authority or where necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others in accordance with applicable law.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure in accordance with Article 20 of the UAE PDPL, including encryption of data in transit using SSL/TLS, encryption of data at rest, and strict access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only. In the event of a personal data breach affecting your privacy or confidentiality, we will notify you and the UAE Data Bureau in accordance with Article 9 of the UAE PDPL within the timeframes prescribed by law; such notification will include the nature of the breach, the categories of data affected, and the corrective measures taken.

6. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Our platform infrastructure may involve the processing of personal data in data centres located outside the United Arab Emirates, including in the United States and European Union. Where such transfers occur, we ensure compliance with Articles 22 and 23 of the UAE PDPL through contractual agreements with processors imposing data protection obligations equivalent to those under UAE law and reliance on countries or regions recognised by the UAE as providing adequate data protection.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as required to deliver our services, after which it will be securely deleted or anonymised in accordance with Article 5.7 of the UAE PDPL. Certain data may be retained for a longer period where required by applicable UAE law or for the purposes of defending or exercising legal rights.

8. Your Legal Rights

Under the UAE PDPL you have the right to request details of the personal data we hold about you, the purposes of its processing, and with whom it is shared (Article 13); to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format and to request its transfer to another controller where technically feasible (Article 14); to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data without undue delay (Article 15.1); to request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary, where you withdraw consent, or where it has been unlawfully processed (Article 15.2); to require us to restrict or pause processing in certain circumstances (Article 16); to object to processing for direct marketing, statistical surveys, or where processing violates Article 5 (Article 17); and to object to decisions based solely on automated processing or profiling that produce a legal or similarly significant effect on you and to request human review of such decisions (Article 18). We reserve the right to decline requests that are excessively repetitive, conflict with legal obligations, or would adversely affect the rights of third parties under Article 13.3.
